Product description
ALK-TURBO ACC: Advanced Marine Air Cooler Cleaner
ALK-TURBO ACC is a premium-grade marine chemical formulation expertly engineered by ALKEMIST™ | Water and Chemicals Solutions (SMC-PVT) LIMITED. Designed specifically for the demanding marine environment, this highly effective solvent and emulsifier blend is the ultimate solution for maintaining the efficiency of marine diesel engine air coolers and turbocharger systems. It penetrates deeply to dissolve heavy oil, grease, stubbornly baked-on carbon, and airborne particulate matter that restrict airflow and degrade overall engine performance.
Key Features & Benefits
- Maximizes Engine Efficiency: Regular use restores the original cooling capacity of the air cooler, ensuring optimal air density reaches the combustion chamber, which directly improves fuel economy and power output.
- Reduces Exhaust Temperatures: By facilitating better heat exchange and consistent airflow, it helps maintain lower, safer exhaust gas temperatures.
- Powerful Emulsifying Action: Formulated by ALKEMIST™ to break down complex, hardened marine contaminants quickly, transforming them into a highly stable emulsion that can be easily flushed away with fresh or sea water.
Detailed Application Methodology (How to Use)
ALKEMIST™ | Water and Chemicals Solutions (SMC-PVT) LIMITED recommends the following procedures for applying ALK-TURBO ACC to ensure peak marine engine performance safely and efficiently:
1. In-Service Cleaning (Injection Method)
This is the preferred method for maintaining air cooler efficiency without the need to shut down the engine. It ensures continuous operational performance during long voyages.
- Dosing Equipment: ALK-TURBO ACC must be injected directly into the air intake trunking upstream of the cooler using specialized dosing pumps or air-operated injection systems.
- Process: The chemical mixture, carried by the high-velocity scavenging air, passes through the cooler fins, softening and dissolving built-up deposits on contact.
- Safety Protocol: Strictly follow the engine manufacturer’s specific guidelines regarding injection rates, dosages, and intervals to prevent any liquid carry-over into the engine cylinders, which could cause hydrostatic lock or damage.
2. Out-of-Service Cleaning (Soaking or Circulation)
This method is highly recommended for heavily fouled coolers, scheduled dry-dock maintenance, or periods where the marine engine is completely stopped.
- Circulation Method: Create a closed cleaning loop using an external pump and a mixing tank. Circulate a mixture of ALK-TURBO ACC (typically diluted 10-30% with water, depending on the severity of the fouling) through the cooler for a period of 2 to 6 hours. Monitor the cleaning solution; if it becomes heavily contaminated, drain and replace it with a fresh mixture.
- Soaking Method (Immersion): If the cooler unit has been completely removed from the engine assembly, it can be fully immersed in a dedicated cleaning bath containing the ALK-TURBO ACC solution. Allow sufficient soaking time (typically 4 to 12 hours) for the chemicals to deeply penetrate and loosen the hardened deposits from the fins and tubes.
- Final Rinsing Procedure: Regardless of the out-of-service method utilized, it is critical to thoroughly flush the entire cooler unit with high-pressure fresh water upon completion. This removes all emulsified dirt, oil, and residual chemicals before the unit is dried and returned to active service.
