Detailed Application Methodology (How to Use)

To achieve the highest quality surface finish and automotive performance, ALKEMIST™ | Water and Chemicals Solutions (SMC-PVT) LIMITED recommends adhering to the following application protocols:

Step 1: Workspace and Safety Preparation

Ensure the garage or industrial workspace is exceptionally well-ventilated to prevent the accumulation of volatile organic compounds (VOCs). Protect sensitive painted surfaces and specific plastics from overspray. Critically important: Eliminate all potential ignition sources, including hot engine exhaust parts, sparks, open flames, and ungrounded electrical equipment.

Step 2: Application Methods

This petroleum distillate blend is designed to be used neat (100% undiluted). Choose the application method based on the task:

• Automotive ABS & Brake Flushing: Spray generously directly over brake calipers, rotors, and ABS sensors to flush away loose brake dust and grease. Wash the contaminants downward into a designated solvent catch pan.
• Industrial Pre-Cleaning (The Two-Cloth Method): For edging and surface prep, saturate a clean, lint-free industrial cloth with the solvent. Wipe the target edge firmly in one direction to lift contaminants. Immediately follow up with a second, dry lint-free cloth to wipe away the dissolved soil before the solvent evaporates.

Step 3: Flashing and Final Inspection

Allow the flushed or wiped surface to air dry naturally. Due to its volatile nature, the metal surface will flash dry rapidly. Once dry, the part is immediately ready for reassembly, edge banding, or adhesive application. Avoid touching the pre-cleaned surfaces with bare hands to prevent recontamination from skin oils.

• Fire Hazards: Isolate from heat, hot vehicle surfaces, sparks, and open flames. Absolutely no smoking in the application or storage areas. Do not apply to hot brake rotors or running engines.
• Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Operators must wear solvent-resistant nitrile or viton gloves, chemical splash goggles, and an approved organic vapor respirator if ambient ventilation is insufficient.
• First Aid: If swallowed, immediately call a poison center or doctor; do NOT induce vomiting due to aspiration hazards. In the event of skin or eye contact, rinse thoroughly with copious amounts of water. If vapors are inhaled heavily, move the individual to fresh air immediately.
